Like clockwork, our first year Architectural Draughting students annually are challenged to create a Multi-Functional Chair designed and built to full scale using only corrugated cardboard. This year’s students faced an extra challenge as it was part of their brief to design the chair using the shape of one of the 2 group members initials! This learning series offered our first years to “dig deep” and pool in learning experiences and knowledge from the academic year.
The 2019 class took it in their stride and blew us away! From full scale sofas that convert into tables or bookshelves to cosy desk chairs that can also function as a desk itself to a comfortable “throne-like” dining chair with its own side table and foot stool and a cheerful, purple unicorn chair/desk for the kiddies.
Their work produced and displayed showed passion and timeous execution. They truly did CAD4ALL staff proud and we look forward to seeing what they will produce for their final design task of their first year, a low-cost housing proposal.
