The qualification for the National certificate in Architectural Technology course focuses on foundation design in the first term. Learners are exposed to selecting the correct foundation based on certain parameters and what the practical application entails. The strip foundation is the most common type and was used as a practical on strand beach. Learners engaged in work and play under the sun, working up a sweat digging out trenches, followed by a dip in the ocean to cool down. This practical application exposes our learners to all the roleplayers involved up until the labourer digging our the trench and how our drawings affect labour.
