CAD4ALL Dabbles in Space!

The National Diploma students went to Hermanus to have a tour of SANSA. We started with a brief walkthrough of what they monitor and how they monitor the “weather in space”. The answered some questions regarding Geostorms and informed us a bit about Solar flares

Afterward, we went through to the “Device department” (Not the actual name). We met with a scientist that spent months in Antarctica and he informed us of the conditions of survival and what they were constructing. The structures they were building were designed to withstand the intense winds of the Arctic.

Next we had a brief tour of what looked to be a history room. It was filled with compasses from different eras and we were told some information about sea mines and their inner workings, as well as the difference between contact and non-contact mines.

Lastly, we went to the “Science Centre”. This room was filled with games, puzzles and activities that all involved a different aspect of science and physics. It ranged from Magnetics, Gravity and Mirror illusions.

It was a lovely experience and would recommend it to anyone that might have an interest.
